 KABUL, Afghanistan (Aug. 14)
- The insurgents fired their rockets despite the presence of children and civilians. Two children, died in the blast and a third girl was brought to Forward Operating Base Salerno Combat Support Hospital where she later died of her wounds. Also injured in the attack was the mother of two of the children. She is currently being treated at FOB Salerno.

"It's hard to imagine what this family is faced with at the loss of three children and a wounded mother. Our thoughts are with the family during this extremely tough time," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director.

"This just reiterates why these terrorists must be stopped and brought to justice. Their complete disregard for human life will not be tolerated. As we hunt these barbarians down, we will continue making every possible effort to bring peace and security to the people of Afghanistan," Torres said.
