KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 2)
– Afghan National Forces and locals in Trek Nawa are building bridges, both figuratively and literally.

A bridge was reconstructed Wednesday that will be used by Afghan National Army and coalition forces as well as local residents.

A dispute concerning water privileges ended in the burning of the previous wooden bridge, according to local residents. To create a more permanent structure, coalition forces opted to use a large, metallic storage container for the bridge’s foundation rather than wood.

ANA partnered with coalition forces and provided security around the perimeter while the bridge was constructed.
