KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 15)
- An Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance force patrol secured and destroyed approximately 1,000 kilograms of homemade explosives during an operation in Ghazni province, Thursday.

Multiple intelligence reports and tips from local citizens led the combined security force to the explosives cache, which was rigged to explode.

The combined patrol enlisted an ISAF explosive ordnance disposal team to safely disarm the explosives and destroy the cache on site.

"The tips leading to the location of this explosives cache is another indication that Afghan citizens are tired of the Taliban's unwanted and brutal tactics," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. "The destruction of these explosives ensures they won't be used to kill or injure local Afghans, or the security forces that are here to protect them."
