KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 10) – In Khost district, Khost province, an Afghan led and coalition supported security force captured a Haqqani Network leader during an operation today. In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan: South In Kajaki district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered an explosives cache during a patrol yesterday. The cache consisted of approximately 1,280 pounds (582 kilograms) of explosive materials and approximately 370 improvised explosive device components. The security force destroyed all explosives and IED components on site without incident. An Afghan led and coalition supported security force conducted a security operation in Maiwand district, Kandahar province, yesterday. During the operation, the security force seized several improvised explosive device components and a number of Afghan police uniforms. Several suspected insurgents were detained by Afghan security forces for further questioning. No civilians were harmed during the operation. East In Ghazni district, Ghazni province, an Afghan Provincial Response Company led and coalition supported security force conducted an operation in search of a Taliban leader Wednesday. The targeted leader is responsible for several attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the province. During the operation, the security force seized multiple firearms and detained several suspected insurgents. The detainees were taken in by Afghan security forces for further questioning. The weapons were destroyed on site without incident. No civilians were harmed during this operation. |
