ISAF Joint Command morning operational update - February 13, 2012

KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 13) — In Kabul district, Kabul province, an Afghan Crisis Response Unit security force arrested a key person-of-interest during an operation yesterday.

The individual was suspected stealing coalition equipment and weapons and selling the items to insurgents and criminal gangs in the Kabul area.

During the operation, the security force discovered a large amount of stolen equipment and weapons. The items were confiscated and will be used as evidence for prosecution.

No shots were fired and no civilians were harmed during the operation.

South
An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Marjeh district, Helmand province, yesterday. The facilitator distributed weapons and ammunition throughout the district to insurgent fighters. The security force detained one additional suspected insurgent during the operation.


In Maiwand district, Kandahar province, an Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation today. The leader conducted direct-fire and roadside bomb attacks against coalition forces throughout Nahr-e Saraj district. Several additional suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
