KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 6)
– Special operations forces from the International Security Assistance Force recently trained Afghan policemen in advanced tactics in Kabul.

The Afghan Crisis Response Unit, a special police unit, underwent training in various rappelling methods, associated tactical applications from a training tower and helicopter operations.

The training began with basic helicopter insertion techniques to introduce airmobile capability and inter-unit interoperability. Thirty Afghan policemen participated in 21 missions, performing both air-land and hover jumping techniques up to six feet (two meters) in height.

“The CRU continues to enter into high-risk situations and has successfully responded to a number of short-notice missions, two of which led to the apprehension of two high-value targets in Kabul,” said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. “This training will add to their capabilities for increased mission success.”
