ISAF Joint Command - Afghanistan 2010-07-CA-206 For Immediate Release
KABUL, Afghanistan (July 28) - Afghan and coalition officials held a shura with village elders of Nakhonay, in the Panjwa'i District yesterday, where it was agreed that all parties would work more closely together to enhance security and development.
As was demonstrated last year in neighbouring Dand district, village stability operations can lead to a secure and prosperous local economy. The village of Deh e-Bagh is a prime example of this approach that is being implemented in Kandahar province.
"We are working diligently in the Panjwayi District to bring about the positive changes we've seen over the past year in neighbouring Dand District," said Brigadier General Jon Vance, Commander Task Force Kandahar. "There is a firm commitment from the elders of Nakhonay to the district leadership and ANSF to help root out insurgent activity."
Through close coordination with GIRoA, the Afghan National Police and 1st Brigade 205 (Hero) Corps of the Afghan National Army and the villagers themselves, security and development will be delivered in Nakhonay. |
