 KABUL, Afghanistan (Sept. 4) - An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator of explosives and improvised explosive devices for an attack cell operating in Gardez district, in Paktiya province Friday.

Acting on intelligence tips, the security force targeted a compound north of Bala Deh in Gardez district, to search for the facilitator. The targeted insurgent ran from the compound and the combined force tracked and captured him. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compound buildings peacefully and then cleared the compound.

After questioning all the residents, the security force identified and detained the facilitator. The security force found a pistol and a grenade at the scene.

The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
