BAGRAM, Afghanistan (June 18, 2012) —  Insurgents detonated a remote-controlled bomb in a crowded market area of Tagab district, Kapisa province this afternoon, killing six citizens of Afghanistan – five Afghan National Security Forces personnel and one ordinary citizen – and injuring 17 ordinary citizens and one ANSF.

“This is truly a sad incident that killed our security forces, and more importantly, killed one of our ordinary Afghan countrymen and injured 17 more who were just after their daily living needs,” said Kapisa Provincial Governor Mehrabuddin Safi.

“Insurgents have no respect and will probably continue killing and injuring more innocent Afghan citizens. I strongly condemn their acts and request from my fellow Afghan citizens to be alert and cautious and to report any suspicious activity immediately to Afghan security forces so that together we can prevent any such incidents in the future,” he added.

Afghan National Security Forces responded to the incident immediately and transported the wounded to local medical facilities.
