ISAF Joint Command morning operational update - February 11, 2012

KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 11) – In Terayzai district, Khost province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Haqqani Network leader today.

The leader operates in Bak, Sabari and Terayzai districts where he distributes weapons and money to insurgent fighters and plans attacks against Afghan forces.

The security force confiscated several firearms and detained multiple suspected insurgents during the operation.


In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan: 

East
An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation in Zurmat district, Paktiya province, today. The leader conducted explosive attacks against Afghan forces throughout the district. The security force detained two additional suspected insurgents during the operation.


South
In Maiwand district, Kandahar province, an Afghan led and coalition supported security force conducted discovered a weapons cache during an operation today. The cache consisted of several weapons, communications equipment, improvised explosive device components and explosive chemicals. The security force also detained three suspected insurgents during the operation. The weapons, chemicals and IED components were destroyed on site without incident.


An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Taliban leader in Lashkar Gah district, Helmand province, today. The leader distributes weapons and plans attacks in Maiwand district. Multiple suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
