Media Visit Informaton: Traveling

Unless organized and traveling with national aircraft assets into Afghanistan, ISAF does NOT organize transportation in and out of its theatre. Once you have arrived in country and process through one of our main military installations to receive your ISAF media badge, you will then be able to receive military travel to and from locations on approved embeds within theatre.

The main locations currently able to issue an ISAF Media Badge are the IJC Headquarters on the north side of Kabul International Airport, and Bagram Air Base, about an hour drive north of Kabul. Both locations require prior coordination and have set hours for ISAF Media Badge pick-up.

Media approved on embeds, when available, will be authorized food, lodging and help with travel arrangements. Some locations may offer media to stay on base with proper credentials and while en route to embed locations with prior arrangement.

Embedding with Approved Unit and Recommended Packing List

Please remember all media are required to have their ISAF Media Badge credentials visible at all times and have a copy of their signed media ground rules on file while embedded.

Once the media embed has been approved, please contact one of the media support centers for travel to and from the unit. The unit you are embedding with will support travel arrangements within their area of responsibility.

Note: Please keep in mind media will be responsible for carrying their own equipment and it is recommended to travel light.
